Responsibilities
- Administer system-level procedures, patch management, service-layer applications, deployment creation, redundancy management, and certificate management for core Linux servers in a Bare Metal infrastructure.
- Collaborate with developers to build containerization that promotes automated, continuous integration and accelerates delivery of new products and services.
- Install upgrades, configure, test, and support system software.
- Perform on-site duties including racking devices, cabling, and deploying new systems in multiple data centers (ability to lift 40 lbs required).
- Perform configurations and adjustments to enhance system performance.
- Execute automated and manual backup and restorative processes.
- Implement and enforce necessary security procedures.
Qualifications
You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 2 years of relevant experience. In absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience is required.
- Experience with the Linux CLI, debugging tools, and network stack.
- Working knowledge of core networking, subnetting, firewalls, and routing.
- Proficiency in configuration, troubleshooting, installation, operation, maintenance, and system administration of multiple Linux distributions such as RHEL and Ubuntu.
- Ability to create shell programs and utility scripts.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Ability to work independently in an international, cross-functional team environment, including occasional off-hours tasks and meetings.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, and successfully handle competing deadlines.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Ability to support a hybrid (primarily on-site) schedule at the Annapolis office.
We Prefer
- Experience with IBM MQ.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization.
- Experience with storage appliances (TrueNAS, FreeNAS) with a focus on NAS and iSCSI protocols.
- Ability to support a 24×7 rotating on-call schedule.
- Occasional travel, as needed, less than 20 days a year.
- Experience working with Configuration Management Systems (Git in particular).
- Experience with Solaris and ZFS.
