About the role
The Research and Technology Protection (RTP) team at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) in Springfield, VA, develops and provides subject matter expertise in providing day-to-day security classification guidance and assessments of classified and controlled unclassified information GEOINT campaigns and program tools development.
Responsibilities
- Provide system security analysis and program documentation and risk assessment analysis in support of the RTP mission.
- Research and recommend long and short-term program protection strategies and tactics for new and established programs, or to address program extensions or changes in program direction.
- Create, coordinate, and maintain Program Protection Plans for all assigned programs.
- Auxiliary in the identification of potential program vulnerabilities that could be exploited. This includes determining and applying appropriate security requirements (e.g. physical, information, personnel, etc.) and tasks relative to the specific technology programs to be protected.
- Assess the impact of compromising or losing NGA R&D information.
- Perform overall security risk assessment for NGA’s research efforts.
- Provide pros and cons associated with proposed risk mitigation options.
- Auxiliary in the identification of critical program information (CPI), threat analysis, developing, and coordinating program OPSEC plans.
- Plan, coordinate, execute security support for meetings.
- Attend program related meetings/events to monitor progress and plan for upcoming program security needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and 15 years of total work experience.
- Experience in developing, staffing and managing security programs for Research and Development.
- Experience with research and technology protection (RTP).
- Working knowledge in any of the following:

- IC Markings Guide
- DoDI 5230.24 Distribution Statements on Technical Documents
- DoDI 5200.39 Critical Program Information

Desired Qualifications
- NGA experience.
- Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).
- Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC).
- Security Program Integration Professional Certificate (SPIPC).
- Special Program Security Certification (SPSC).
- Master's or PhD degree.

Pay Range
$135,000 - $153,000 per year
