Senior Security Engineer – Cybersecurity Posture, Hygiene & AI

About the role

The Senior Security Engineer – Cybersecurity Posture, Hygiene & AI Enablement in AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS) contributes to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, focusing on improving cybersecurity posture and hygiene through AI.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and consultation to improve the cybersecurity posture and hygiene program.
• Prioritize remediation efforts by following a risk-based approach when addressing configuration drift.
• Create scripts to extract cybersecurity hygiene and posture data from in-scope applications using APIs.
• Develop dashboards and alerts to inform stakeholders of configuration drift and required remediation activities.
• Collaborate with internal cybersecurity teams to document CIS baselines based on internal requirements.
• Partner with engineers and key stakeholders to drive platform compliance and monitor on-premises and hosted assets for configuration drift.
• Apply a strong understanding of AI and machine learning concepts, ensuring appropriate and responsible use in cybersecurity workflows.
• Drive AI adoption to improve security outcomes at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with 6 years’ experience; Master’s degree with 5 years’ experience; or PhD with 0 years’ experience in information security and/or related fields.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity tool capabilities, especially for continuous monitoring of configuration drift.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, and PowerShell for interfacing with in-scope applications.
• Expert knowledge of operating systems, networking protocols, system administration, and security technologies.
• Proven ability to analyze data and security monitoring effectively using Splunk.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Professional cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+, CCSP, GSEC) are highly desirable.
• Highly autonomous and productive, capable of performing responsibilities independently.
