Senior SEC Reporting Analyst
About The Role
Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional looking to move beyond standard structured SEC department to building an SEC reporting function? Orion180 is seeking a Senior SEC Reporting Analyst to be a core contributor in building our public reporting function. In this role, you will support the end-to-end financial reporting lifecycle, assisting with the preparation of SEC filings and the documentation of a robust internal control environment. This is a unique "ground-floor" opportunity to develop highly marketable technical skills in a fast-growing insurance organization.
What You’ll Do
- SEC Filings: Assist in drafting registration statements, periodic reports (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, Proxy) and other SEC compliance documents.
- Workpaper Management: Prepare detailed supporting workpapers and financial statement tie-out binders to ensure the accuracy of all public disclosures.
- Technical Accounting Support: Assist with research on complex accounting issues and new FASB/SEC pronouncements, helping to draft technical memos for GAAP compliance.
- Financial Statements: Prepare consolidated financial statements, including cash flows, equity statements, and comprehensive footnote disclosures.
- XBRL Oversight: Perform initial validation of interactive data (XBRL) for all required SEC filings.
- Internal Controls: Assist the SEC reporting team and Big 4 Internal Audit consultants build and execute internal controls over financial reporting to ensure SOX compliance.
- Audit Coordination: Prepare audit schedules and provide necessary documentation to external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Variance Analysis: Partner with FP&A and Investor relations to support the preparation of monthly and quarterly flux analysis to provide insights for MD&A.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support and validate financial statements, footnotes, M&DA and public disclosures.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting required and CPA license or progress toward a CPA and Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Experience: 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience, specifically in the SEC reporting department of a fast-paced organization or public accounting (Big 4 preferred).
- Technical Knowledge: Foundational understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. Exposure to insurance statutory accounting or internal control frameworks is a plus.
- Systems & Tools: Proficiency in Excel is required; experience with Workiva is preferred. Proficiency in other SEC reporting software will be considered.
- Analytical Skills: High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet strict regulatory deadlines.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross functionally with Accounting, FP&A and business operations.
- Task management and organization skills: proven ability to manage multiple deliverables.
