About the role

Search Consulting is a team of experts in linguistics, eDiscovery law and process, legal technology, and GenAI-enabled workflows. The team consults on and supports pre-review data minimization, maximizing cull rates, and applying technology, artificial intelligence, and search expertise to optimize downstream review efficiencies.

The Search Senior Consultant drives the team’s goals by providing services including expert client-facing Keyword Search Consultation (KWC), keyword search term generation and optimization, analyzing, iterating, and reporting on terms to clients, and ECA/data minimization pre-review, including the application of DART syntax and IQ ECA as Lighthouse’s proprietary culling technologies.

The Senior Consultant is a highly consultative role for a technologist or someone with a high aptitude for technology, GenAI, and their application to electronically stored information. This role leads the most complex Search tasks and is the first choice for in-person communications with or presentations to clients and counsel on search consultation issues. It also involves contributions to process and tool innovation, service standardization, formal documentation and training, and other organizational-development initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Leads analysis and application of technology, GenAI-enabled workflows, and Lighthouse proprietary culling technologies to reduce data volume pre-review
  • Drives development of workflow and SOP strategy and documentation
  • Designs and executes non-standard/custom solutions and workflows, including appropriate use of GenAI-supported analysis and automation
  • Applies expertise in DART syntax and IQ ECA as Lighthouse’s proprietary culling technology to support ECA/data minimization strategies
  • Conducts complex/multi-part analysis with high accuracy and timeliness
  • Leads expert client-facing Keyword Search Consultation (KWC) services
  • Demonstrates mastery of dtSearch syntax, DART syntax, IQ ECA, and relevant review platform features/functionality
  • Applies expertise in all standard search consultation services and QC protocols
  • Independently develops solutions to complex client requests, including custom or creative problem-solving
  • Leads development of client-facing analyses, reports, and other deliverables
  • Identifies opportunities for innovation, including practical and responsible AI incorporation into Search Consulting workflows and deliverables
  • Leads service management activities aimed at increasing knowledge, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Search team, such as:
    • Process and tool innovation, including GenAI-enabled tooling, DART syntax workflows, and IQ ECA best practices
    • Service standardization and best practices definition
    • Creation of service documentation and formal training
  • Actively participates in initiatives outside of billable work that map to company and Tech Enabled Review departmental objectives
  • Serves as internal point of contact for project management teams
  • Ensures questions from project management teams or clients are addressed in a timely manner
  • Manages collaboration with project management teams regarding client communications/consultation/escalations
  • Proactively mentors less experienced team members
  • Performs other tasks as needed

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and consultation skills, including expert client-facing Keyword Search Consultation (KWC)
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong analytics skills
  • Technical aptitude and practical fluency with AI-enabled approaches to eDiscovery workflows
  • Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility and promotes these skills in others
  • Strong ability to manage competing priorities and work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience with eDiscovery platforms (Relativity required)
  • Expertise in dtSearch syntax (required)
  • Expertise in developing regular expressions (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in linguistics, computer science, or similar field of study, or additional equivalent years of experience in eDiscovery
  • Minimum five years’ experience in data minimization/culling strategy development and workflow application
  • Two or more years of client services or analogous leadership experience in eDiscovery (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience incorporating GenAI, dtSearch, Relativity, DART syntax, IQ ECA, or comparable technology-enabled culling workflows into search consultation and data minimization workflows (preferred)

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Duties are performed in a typical office environment while at a desk or computer table
  • Duties require the ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material in a quiet and professional setting
  • Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends)
