About the role

This newly created role supports the future growth of the Wealth and Advice Solutions (WAS) tech business. The WAS Tech business is a growth area for Schwab, focusing on high-net worth and ultra-high net worth retail investors. Key stakeholders include Schwab’s Wealth and Investment Solutions, including Schwab Wealth Advisory.

Responsibilities

  • Enable WAS Tech to achieve consistent, predictable, high-quality delivery by implementing best practices, tools, metrics, and automation frameworks.
  • Provide Agile oversight in software development and testing.
  • Deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.
  • Support key stakeholders across the WAS organization, including Schwab’s Wealth and Investment Solutions, including Schwab Wealth Advisory.
  • Work with a team of talented and highly motivated technologists to make technology a strategic differentiator for Schwab’s WAS business and its clients.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Scrum Master in enterprise software development environments.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM I), or equivalent Agile certification.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, sprint reviews) for development teams of 5-9 members.
  • Proven track record of coaching development teams to achieve consistent velocity and meet sprint commitments.
  • Experience identifying, tracking, and resolving team impediments and organizational blockers.
  • Proficiency with Agile project management tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or Rally.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, development, testing, and deployment phases.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including developers, QA engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience in fast-paced, iterative development environments with changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of Agile metrics and reporting (burndown charts, velocity tracking, sprint health metrics).
  • Understanding of DevOps practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) concepts.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Scrum certifications (CSP-SM, PSM II) or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of Scrum Master experience with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role preferred.
  • Experience in scaled Agile environments (SAFe, LeSS, Scrum@Scale) preferred.
  • Background in software development, quality assurance, or technical project management preferred.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior Scrum Masters or Agile practitioners preferred.
  • Experience in financial services, healthcare, or other regulated industries preferred.
  • Familiarity with multiple Agile frameworks beyond Scrum (Kanban, XP, Lean) preferred.
  • Experience with release planning and dependency management across multiple teams preferred.
  • Knowledge of technical practices such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and automated testing preferred.
  • Proficiency with collaboration tools like Confluence, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and virtual facilitation platforms preferred.
  • Experience facilitating large-scale planning events (PI Planning, quarterly business reviews) preferred.
  • Understanding of UX/UI design processes and design thinking methodologies preferred.
  • Change management and organizational transformation experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive team improvements preferred.
