About The Role

The Novartis Biomedical Research Oncology Disease Area is seeking an experienced scientist to join the Target Biology and Discovery (TBaD) group. The mission of our group is to uncover novel therapeutic targets and effective modalities to benefit cancer patients. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies, innovative screening approaches, and in-depth mechanistic studies, the team initiates the crucial first steps in bringing new oncology medicines to the clinic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanism-of-action studies using advanced cell biology and chromatin biology approaches to interrogate therapeutic response.
  • Design, develop, and execute in vitro assays to elucidate key aspects of cancer biology.
  • Leverage state-of-the-art genome-editing tools to perform genetic screens and support compound mechanism-of-action studies.
  • Design, execute, analyze, document experiments, and communicate results in team settings.
  • Stay current with scientific literature and advancements.
  • Collaborate across departments and with external partners to foster growth and innovation within the team and department, and contribute to the culture of the group.

Essential Requirements

  • B.S or M.S. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology or related field.
  • Experience performing Chromatin-Based experiments is Essential.
  • Strong proficiency in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology (vector design, cloning), protein analysis workflows (e.g. Western blotting, FACS), and CRISPR-based gene editing technologies (e.g. base editing, prime editing, CRISPRi, CRISPRa, etc.).
  • Clear track record of working efficiently with teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, with a commitment to fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results.
  • A creative, curious, passionate, and scientifically fearless mindset dedicated to improving the lives of patients.
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Proficiency with data mining, computational skills, and chromatin-based analyses.
  • Previous research related to hormone driven cancer cell biology (e.g. prostate and breast cancer).

Pay

The salary for this position is expected to range between $93,8000 and $174,200 per year. The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically.

Schedule

This position will be located at the Cambridge, MA site and will not have the ability to be located remotely.
