Senior Scientist, Delivery Biology-Tissue Lead

Alnylam’s Research Department is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Scientist in Delivery Biology to support and advance targeted delivery strategies for oligonucleotides at our Cambridge site.

About the role

This lab-based position focuses on discovering delivery solutions in priority tissue and cell types with compelling therapeutic targets. The successful candidate will apply expertise in oligonucleotide conjugate delivery to solve delivery challenges for therapeutic targets advancing into clinical development. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential to connect interdisciplinary teams, including medicinal chemistry, core delivery technology, and targets groups.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply assays and experimental strategies to enable tissue-specific delivery of oligonucleotide conjugates.
  • Design, execute, and interpret in vitro and ex vivo assays to evaluate delivery efficiency and biological outcomes.
  • Collaborate extensively with cross-functional partners to expand targeted delivery into new cell types and tissues.
  • Transparently communicate data, conclusions, and experimental rationale to team members and leadership.
  • Mentor and support the scientific development of junior scientists or research associates.

Requirements

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a biopharma setting.
  • Expertise in tissue and cell biology, with experience working across multiple tissue types for cell- or tissue-specific delivery.
  • Experience in nucleic acids or antibody-drug conjugates aimed at tissue-specific delivery is a plus.
  • Demonstrated scientific rigor, attention to detail, and commitment to data reproducibility.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Pay

U.S. pay range: $126,400 – $189,600. Base pay will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
