About the role
The Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute (ARMl)IBioFabUSA seeks a highly motivated scientist to lead the development and application of state-of-the-art methodologies for characterizing metabolomics and lipidomics profiles in bioprocesses. This role involves developing and operating an optimized pipeline for deep, untargeted analysis of polar metabolites and lipids from bioreactor cultured cells and conditioned media.
Responsibilities
- Develop and operate an optimized pipeline for deep, untargeted analysis of polar metabolites and lipids from bioreactor cultured cells and conditioned media.
- Prepare bioreactor samples for liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis using automation for improved throughput.
- Operate and maintain Thermo LC-MS instrumentation, including Vanquish UHPLC, Exploris 480, and IQ-X.
- Analyze LC-MS raw data with processing software such as Compound Discoverer, LipidSearch, MZmine, and Python/R scripting.
- Collaborate closely within the Multi-Omics group and across Process Development and Data Science groups to discover and communicate biological insights.
- Engage with Operations Support, service engineers, and vendors for instrument maintenance, optimization, and upgrades.
- Adhere to safety and quality guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Requirements
- Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related area.
- MS with 5-10 years of experience or PhD with 2-5 years postgraduate experience.
- Significant hands-on experience across all stages of untargeted small molecule analyses: sample preparation, mass spectrometric analyses, and data processing and interpretation.
- Familiarity with lab automation and higher-throughput workflows.
- Experience with Biomek systems is a plus.
- Good communication skills, proactive attitude, and results-driven mindset.
Qualifications
- Expertise in untargeted metabolomics and/or lipidomics.
- Extensive hands-on experience with sample handling automation, LC-MS instrumentation, and data analysis software platforms.
Skills
- Proven experience in developing and applying state-of-the-art methodologies for analyzing small molecule signatures in bioprocesses.
- Strong proficiency in sample preparation, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), and data analysis.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Results-driven and proactive approach to problem-solving.
Benefits
- Flexible work schedule with occasional work outside of regular business hours.
- Opportunities for professional growth and collaboration within a dynamic team.
- Competitive compensation package tailored to experience and qualifications.
