  • Lead a team of junior scientists and technicians to develop and optimize formulations for nutrients, bioactives, and molecular extracts in food, beverage, and dietary supplement applications.
  • Support research involving encapsulation and delivery technologies, including micro-/nano-encapsulation, powdered liposomes, coating systems, complexation, and controlled-release mechanisms.
  • Aid in research related to microemulsions and functional powdered beverage systems.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data to evaluate performance, stability, bioavailability indicators, and functional outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough lab notebooks, reports, and experimental documentation in alignment with internal standards.
  • Prepare technical summaries, internal reports, and data packages to support decision-making by the CSO.
  • Support generation of data for white papers, technical dossiers, patents, and regulatory documentation.
  • Assist with pilot-scale trials, process transfer, and scale-up activities in collaboration with operations and manufacturing teams.
  • Identify formulation or process risks early and propose data-driven solutions.
  • Support validation testing related to shelf life, stability, and performance claims.
  • Collaborate closely with innovation, science, operations, quality, and commercial teams to advance projects efficiently.
  • Provide technical support for customer projects, including sample preparation, formulation troubleshooting, and data review.
  • Participate in cross-functional project meetings and innovation reviews.
  • Follow and promote best practices in laboratory safety, organization, and equipment maintenance.
  • Support continuous improvement of lab workflows, methods, and experimental efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and regulatory considerations where applicable.
  • Stay current on emerging ingredient technologies, delivery systems, and scientific literature.
  • Contribute ideas to innovation brainstorming and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support peer-reviewed publications, conference posters, and internal knowledge-sharing efforts under guidance from leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Nutritional Science, Materials Science, or related discipline.
  • 2-6+ years of hands-on laboratory experience in ingredients, functional foods, dietary supplements, or nutraceutical R&D.
  • Practical experience with formulation development, encapsulation technologies, emulsions, powders, or bioactive delivery systems preferred.
  • Strong experimental design, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with analytical techniques relevant to ingredient performance and stability is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple experiments and priorities in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and internal reporting.
