About the role

HIMSS is seeking an experienced Senior Sales Executive – Public Sector to establish, grow, and lead our Public Sector vertical across North America. This role is both hands-on and strategic, focusing on developing executive relationships with federal, state, and other public healthcare organizations while shaping the long-term go-to-market strategy for one of HIMSS's highest growth opportunities.

What You'll Do

  • Lead HIMSS's Public Sector Growth Strategy
  • Serve as the commercial leader responsible for establishing, growing, and leading HIMSS's Public Sector business.
  • Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy for the Public Sector vertical, identifying new opportunities and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Create a sustainable pipeline of new business while achieving revenue growth objectives.
  • Create strategic account plans focused on expanding HIMSS's presence across federal, state, and local healthcare organizations.
  • Drive Strategic Sales
  • Lead consultative sales engagements across HIMSS's portfolio of Advisory Services, Analytics, Professional Development, Insights, Membership, Events, and other enterprise solutions.
  • Partner with executive stakeholders to understand strategic priorities, operational challenges, and digital health initiatives, positioning HIMSS as a trusted advisor.
  • Navigate complex government procurement processes and multi-stakeholder buying environments to successfully close opportunities.
  • Expand existing relationships through strategic cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
  • Build Executive Relationships
  • Develop trusted partnerships with executive leaders across government agencies, public health organizations, publicly funded healthcare providers, and healthcare technology organizations.
  • Represent HIMSS at national conferences, industry events, customer meetings, and networking engagements to strengthen market presence and expand business opportunities.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on Public Sector market trends, competitive intelligence, regulatory changes, and customer priorities.

What You Bring

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • 10+ years of successful consultative sales experience with a demonstrated history of exceeding revenue goals.
    • Extensive experience selling into U.S. Public Sector healthcare organizations is required.
    • Deep understanding of federal, state, and local government healthcare procurement processes, funding models, and buying environments.
    • Proven success developing new markets, building strategic accounts, and creating business opportunities within complex enterprise organizations.
    • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence C-suite leaders and senior government stakeholders.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
    • Experience managing complex sales cycles using Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across a matrixed organization.
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Experience working with organizations such as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), State Medicaid Agencies, Veterans Health Administration (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), Public Health Departments, State and Local Health Agencies, Public Hospital Systems, Government-funded Healthcare Organizations.
