Summary
Mortenson is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer I responsible for implementing and administering safety programs at worksites, conducting safety audits, and ensuring a safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Implement and administer safety programs at worksites, including site-specific safety activities and training programs
- Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, and analyze loss control data
- Lead OSHA reporting, monitor subcontractor activities, and review safety submittals
- Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics
- Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, and maintain knowledge of safety standards
- Serve as a resource for safety issues, attend safety meetings, and assist with major incident analysis
- Work with client safety personnel, union representatives, and insurance risk engineers
- Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or equivalent, or high school diploma with CHST Certification, OSHA 500, and at least 10 years construction experience leading crews and planning work, including at least six years as a dedicated construction safety professional responsible for managing project safety programs, conducting/handling hazard analyses, developing controls, conducting safety training, and planning work activities
- Minimum of four years of construction safety experience
- Current valid driver’s license
- Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant safety software programs
- Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies effectively
- Willingness to travel up to 100%

Pay Range
The base pay range for this role is $89,500 - $120,800. (Actual range is higher for Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).
