About the role
We are seeking experienced CEI Inspectors with experience in Roadway inspection for our Transportation-Construction Management (T-CM) team in the Waynesville, NC area. RS&H is currently seeking an experienced inspector technician to join our team. This position will work outside on an active construction site.
Responsibilities
- Serve an integral role in the firm by observing the work of contractors to determine the progress and quality of work on construction projects.
- Perform highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, including making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.
- Coordinate and manage junior inspectors.
- Reviews and interprets contract documents to determine if the contractor’s work is in compliance.
- Maintain detailed accurate records of the contractor’s daily operations and of significant events that affect the work.
- Perform sampling and field testing of component materials and completed work.
- Direct, guide, and mentor junior inspectors.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent and seven years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in construction inspection, including exposure to bridge and/or roadway construction inspection, or a degree in civil engineering.
- Materials sampling/testing certifications.
- A valid driver's license, be insurable, and be able to safely operate a vehicle on the highway and on construction sites.
- A passion for working outside and a tolerance for exposure to the elements.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, prioritization, and communication skills.
- The ability to effectively interact with and build relationships with others.
Qualifications
To Be Successful In This Role, You Must Have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent and seven years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Have materials sampling/testing certifications.

- OSHA 10 Hour DOT Certifications
- ACI Concrete Testing Technician
