About the role
This is a hybrid position based in Hampton Roads (Virginia Beach or Newport News) or Glen Allen, offering the opportunity to work on high-profile VDOT and municipal roadway projects while helping shape the future of our roadway design practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of roadway infrastructure projects throughout Virginia.
- Design and manage VDOT and municipal roadway projects from concept through construction.
- Develop roadway plans, profiles, typical sections, maintenance of traffic plans, and cost estimates.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and project stakeholders.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers while supporting team growth.
- Coordinate with contractors, utility providers, and public agencies.
- Participate in public meetings and help drive successful project outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 6+ years of roadway design experience, preferably in Virginia.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; candidates licensed in other states will be considered with a commitment to obtain Virginia licensure.
- Experience with MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD); Civil 3D experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of AASHTO, VDOT, and local design standards and practices.
- Strong communication, project management, and leadership skills.

- A competitive salary range of $125,000 to $175,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Pay
$125,000 to $175,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
