Senior Roadway Engineer/Project Manager

About the role

This is a hybrid position based in Hampton Roads (Virginia Beach or Newport News) or Glen Allen, offering the opportunity to work on high-profile VDOT and municipal roadway projects while helping shape the future of our roadway design practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of roadway infrastructure projects throughout Virginia.
• Design and manage VDOT and municipal roadway projects from concept through construction.
• Develop roadway plans, profiles, typical sections, maintenance of traffic plans, and cost estimates.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and project stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers while supporting team growth.
• Coordinate with contractors, utility providers, and public agencies.
• Participate in public meetings and help drive successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 6+ years of roadway design experience, preferably in Virginia.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; candidates licensed in other states will be considered with a commitment to obtain Virginia licensure.
• Experience with MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD); Civil 3D experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of AASHTO, VDOT, and local design standards and practices.
• Strong communication, project management, and leadership skills.

Benefits

• A competitive salary range of $125,000 to $175,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Pay

$125,000 to $175,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
