About the role
Joining Albedo means becoming part of a pioneering team that's transforming the Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) space industry. As a Senior RF Systems Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing and developing communication links and RF subsystems for satellites, contributing to the advancement of Albedo’s mission to make VLEO mainstream.
Responsibilities
- Own space-ground/space-space communication link design and RF subsystem architecture across S-band, X-band, and Ka-band
- Lead full radio development efforts from concept through integration and test, collaborating closely with software and FPGA engineers
- Develop and maintain RF link budgets, design RF circuits, and select COTS communication hardware for the satellite
- Support and drive FCC coordination and licensing
- Perform hands-on RF lab work, including characterizing, debugging, and validating hardware
- Capture schematics in Altium Designer and participate in design reviews across the EE team
- Interface with antenna and radio vendors as the technical representative
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering (M.S. preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in RF/communications engineering
- Strong electromagnetics fundamentals, including antenna gain charts, radiation patterns, and link margin analysis
- Experience with analog and RF circuit design, link budgets, and RF lab equipment
- Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture
- Strong general EE fundamentals (circuit analysis, signal integrity, power)
- Experience with satellite communication systems and space-based electronics development
- Bonus points for experience with AI-assisted engineering workflows, knowledge of FCC licensing processes, PCB layout for RF boards, and familiarity with environmental test methods
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship or Eligible for U.S. Work Authorization
- Ability to pass a background check

Pay
The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $170,000 per year.
