Position Purpose
The Client Services Consultant provides client service to partners, intermediaries, and plan sponsors, demonstrating knowledge of retirement plans and Ascensus products and services to deliver solutions and consultative service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Protect, secure, and handle confidential data properly.
- Communicate and coordinate with clients and partners to address issues and deliver solutions.
- Coach and mentor others in retirement plan and client relations.
- Monitor and follow-up on assigned items, determine required action for resolution, and implement solutions.
- Provide clear and concise communication regarding services and execution.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients and financial professionals.
- Manage day-to-day schedule for self and team according to client needs.
- Apply industry knowledge to retirement operations and service.
- Assess client objectives, needs, and behaviors to suggest plan or product changes.
- Develop ideas for improvement and provide feedback/solutions to clients.
- Handle escalated items/calls from clients and provide oversight and resolution.
- Coach and mentor team members and provide feedback to the team manager.
- Develop and maintain strong internal relationships across departments.
- Lead a team and/or project successfully.
- Handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years direct client experience required, Retirement Services industry experience preferred.
- Certification or working towards certification in industry-related studies program preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with financial services systems and plan recordkeeping and trust reconciliation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of retirement plans, ERISA, DOL, and IRS regulations, and plan documents.
- Ability to work in a team environment and make sound business judgments.
- Ability to work well under pressure with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to make sound business judgments concerning issues that can create substantial financial and client relations liabilities.
- Ability to work extended hours to meet business needs.
- Quality focus with attention to detail.
- Strong project management skills.
