Senior Respiratory Therapist

About the role

Join our dedicated Respiratory Therapy team at Haywood Regional Medical Center, a 154-bed facility offering a full range of services including general surgery, women's care, intensive care, and emergency services. Our team is committed to delivering exceptional respiratory care, continuously seeking ways to enhance the patient and family experience.

Responsibilities

• Makes measures of lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care.
• Maintains monitoring and recording of patient condition as necessary.
• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
• Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance.
• Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
• Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
• Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
• Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, RRT is required.
• Previous Supervisory experience is preferred.
• Certified with the National Board of Respiratory Care (NRBC) required (60-day grace period for new graduates).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hire.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Qualifications

• NC Registered Respiratory Therapist and graduate of a school of respiratory therapy.

Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in computer systems and software.

Pay

$10,000 sign-on with a 2-year commitment.
