Senior Resident Project Representative (Construction Observer Water/Wastewater and Land Development)
About the role
The Field Construction Observer will conduct periodic project site visits to monitor and observe construction of civil and municipal related projects such as water/wastewater, pump station, sewer, storm drain, grading, stormwater, roadway (paving/sidewalk) and general civil construction.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with contractors, design team and owners.
- Review and interpret construction contract documents, drawings and specifications.
- Prepare daily and periodic field observation reports and distribute to project team.
- Review and comment on reports prepared by others when necessary.
- Cookordination with field crews for survey and testing as required by the construction contract, and review construction materials testing reports prepared by third party testing agencies.
- Solve problems in a timely manner (involving appropriate parties) during various stages of construction.
- Schedule, conduct and prepare documentation for substantial completion and final completion inspections, including punch lists.
- Review redlines and coordinate preparation of record drawings.
- Review project closeout documents, warranties and final payment requests.
- Perform additional construction phase services as required.
- Promote safety.
Requirements
- Strong Water and Sewer Background
- Water/Wastewater Construction Experience
- Willing and able to climb ladders, routinely travel and traverse uneven, unpaved terrain and work outside for extended periods of time on construction sites.
- Able to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
- Able to communicate with engineers, contractors and owners in an effective, professional manner.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, and either Adobe Acrobat or BlueBeam Revu.
- Willing to work nights, weekends and/or overtime if required.
- Requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.
