Senior Resident Engineer - Roadway
What You Will Do
GFT is seeking an experienced Senior Resident Engineer - Roadway to join our Construction Services team in Hartford, CT. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity to lead roadway-related transportation projects, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in the field.
What You’ll Be Challenged To Do
- Provide Quality Assurance and technical guidance
- Review/Approve monthly pay estimates with Contractors
- Prepare/Review correspondence to and from the Contractors and owner
- Schedule and oversee testing agencies
- Oversee maintenance of project records
- Facilitate response to contractor Requests for Information
- Coverage and management of inspectors and on-site personnel
- Prepare/Review change order documents
- Aid Document Control staff with Contractor schedule compliance
- Prepare progress reports
- Prepare Substantial and Final Completion documents
Education | Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (Connecticut preferred) or NICET Level IV certification
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant construction inspection and management experience, including oversight of roadway, highway, or bridge infrastructure projects
- Prior experience with CTDOT or other regional transportation agencies strongly preferred
- OSHA 30-hour certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
- Working knowledge of Project Management Procedures (PMPs) and Project Management Guidelines (PMGs) preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to support effective collaboration with contractors, owners, subconsultants, designers, and architects
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans, specifications, and construction schedules
- Physically able to work in the field, including navigating uneven terrain, climbing ladders, working at heights, and performing duties in a range of outdoor weather conditions
- Availability for occasional night and weekend work
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to project sites
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $180,000 - $250,000 per year. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
