About the role
Be involved and contribute to international peace, security and development at Folke Bernadotte Academy.
Responsibilities
- Play a central role in the FBA’s mission to promote and conduct research aimed at the effective implementation of international peace efforts.
- Work with two areas of activity: own basic research (50 percent of working hours) and activities that aim to promote research and research application (50 percent of working hours).
- Serve as the scientific engine of the research, development and evidence program.
- Conduct empirical, context-based basic research of direct relevance to FBA’s areas of expertise, preferably based on fieldwork in conflict or post-conflict countries.
- Publish research results in internationally reviewed journals and book series.
- Through research, contribute to the FBA’s thematic development.
- Research is funded as a basic principle by FBA’s administrative grants; FBA can also act as a fund manager for externally funded research projects, provided the research is judged to be of direct relevance to FBA’s areas of expertise.
- Engage in knowledge transfer and promote dialogue between researchers, decision‑makers and practitioners in the field of peace, security and development.
- Have a leading role in this work, including national and international seminar activities and other activities that make research results visible and available.
- Fulfil an advisory function within FBA in promoting an evidence‑based approach.
- Assess research applications, work with FBA’s own publications, and represent the program for research, development and evidence internally and externally.
- Establish and develop national and international research networks as a skilled relationship builder.
- Collaborate closely and unpretentiously with colleagues on the research, development and evidence program.
- Under the direction of the head of research, work independently in all areas of activity and guide administrative colleagues in the research‑promoting work.
- Many tasks have an international dimension, involving daily international contacts.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Swedish is required.
