Senior Research Scientist, Neutral Atoms Control Electronics, Quantum AI
About the role
As an organization, Google maintains a portfolio of research projects driven by fundamental research, new product innovation, product contribution and infrastructure goals, while providing individuals and teams the freedom to emphasize specific types of work. As a Research Scientist, you'll setup large-scale tests and deploy promising ideas quickly and broadly, managing deadlines and deliverables while applying the latest theories to develop new and improved products, processes, or technologies. From creating experiments and prototyping implementations to designing new architectures, our research scientists work on real-world problems that span the breadth of computer science, such as machine (and deep) learning, data mining, natural language processing, hardware and software performance analysis, improving compilers for mobile platforms, as well as core search and much more.
Responsibilities
- Support the deployment of electronics to quantum computers.
- Drive ambiguous board-level projects of medium complexity from concept to production and deployment.
- Work with cross-functional team to evaluate control system requirements and develop board-level solutions to meet these requirements, collaborating with other board and system level designers and vendors as needed.
- Own board and system-level design of custom electronic systems for the control of neutral atom quantum processors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience in analog, digital, or mixed-signal design.
- 3 years of experience designing printed circuit boards for analog or mixed-signal applications.
Preferred qualifications
- PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience designing and building electronic quantum control systems for neutral atoms or trapped ion quantum computers.
- Experience leading development projects from concept to deployment.
- Experience managing vendors.
- Expertise in AMS design principles, with extensive experience from cross-functional specification discovery to system deployment.
- Strong understanding of industry board-level design practices across relevant disciplines (AMS, RF, FPGA, etc), including relevant design tools.
