Responsibilities
- Manage research protocols in collaboration with principal investigators and study sponsors
- Assess patient eligibility through interviews and medical record reviews in inpatient and outpatient settings
- Career development
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support protocol execution and patient care
- Maintain protocol-required documentation within medical records and recruitment logs
- Develop and implement patient recruitment strategies
- Serve as a liaison between sponsor institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and research teams
- Collect, evaluate, and analyze clinical research data in collaboration with principal investigators
- Audit departmental research processes
- Support cross-service research activities as appropriate
- Ensure audits consistently demonstrate protocol accuracy, compliance, and data integrity
- Develop and conduct random quality reviews of departmental research processes
- Support FDA readiness and departmental operational excellence initiatives
- Data Collection, Analysis and Reporting
- Prepare protocol summary reports and assist with protocol analysis
- Design tools that facilitate data collection and analysis
- Create user-generated reports and assist with statistical analysis
- Develop and maintain research databases while meeting project deadlines
- Patient Care & Clinical Trial Support
- Perform protocol-specific clinical tasks as required by assigned studies
- Administer investigational medications following approved nursing procedures and guidelines when required
- Collect, label, and process protocol-specific laboratory specimens according to protocol requirements
- Order protocol-related tests, consults, and procedures
- Obtain pathology slides and tissue blocks as necessary for research protocols
- Support safe, effective, and patient-centered participation in clinical trials
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Maintain error-free, compliant, and comprehensive protocol management practices
- Independently identify and report issues consistent with institutional policies, Code of Federal Regulations, and ICH-GCP guideline
- Integrate regulatory policies and procedures into all protocol management activities
- Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing and Master's Degree Nursing preferred
- Two years Registered nurse experience
- Three years of oncology clinical research experience preferred
- RN - Registered Nurse State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN)
- BLS - Basic Life Support or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification as required by patient care area
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification as required by patient care area
- Strong knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), FDA regulations, ICH guidelines, and protocol compliance
- Excellent clinical assessment, communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- The ability to manage multiple studies independently in a fast-paced environment while mentoring staff and supporting high-quality patient-centered research
