Senior Research Fellow (Fixed Term)

About the role

The Observatory for Mathematical Education is seeking an experienced researcher with expertise in the generation and analysis of quantitative data. The role involves conducting high-quality research, preparing findings for publication, and contributing to reports for policymakers.

Responsibilities

• Carry out original research of international excellence using advanced quantitative research methods and statistical techniques.
• Prepare research findings for publication in leading journals and present at national and international meetings.
• Contribute to Observatory reports aimed at informing policy makers and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the School of Education and School of Mathematical Sciences to enhance research quality and impact.
• Engage with diverse and inclusive teams to foster a supportive and collaborative environment.

Requirements

• Expert knowledge of quantitative research methods and statistical techniques.
• Ongoing accreditation or eligibility for ONS Accredited Researcher status.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field such as Mathematics, Statistics, or Education.
• Experience in quantitative research and statistical analysis.
• Proven track record of publishing in leading academic journals.

Skills

• Advanced proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

£46,049 to £58,225 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Schedule

Full-time role, with the option to apply for a reduced weekly hours (21¾ hours or more) if preferred.
