Leidos is seeking an exceptional and motivated Senior Research Engineer to work side-by-side with world experts as a research scientist at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory’s (NETL) Pittsburgh, PA site.
About the role
In this role, you will work as part of Leidos’s leading Research & Development laboratory team supporting DOE at NETL to pursue cutting-edge research on enhancing oil production from unconventional reservoirs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced research in reservoir engineering, fluid flow, and enhanced oil recovery techniques for unconventional reservoirs.
- Develop and apply computational models, simulations, and experimental methods to improve oil production efficiency.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geoscientists, engineers, and data scientists, to design and execute research projects.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at technical conferences.
- Support DOE and NETL initiatives by providing technical expertise and recommendations for energy-related challenges.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in reservoir engineering, enhanced oil recovery, or related research areas.
- Proficiency in computational tools (e.g., CMG, Eclipse, MATLAB, Python) and experimental techniques for fluid flow analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment.
