Position Summary

The Senior Research Associate provides project management for research projects of considerable scope and complexity. Decisions impact the success of the research project(s).

Responsibilities

  • Collects, evaluates, interprets, and documents research data to accomplish the objectives of a wide variety of scientific experiments using sophisticated equipment and applying complex techniques, methods, and procedures.
  • Provides project management for a wide variety of research experiments in support of research project desired outcomes, budgets, and timelines.
  • Maintains quality control checks and a safe environment in compliance with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.
  • Evaluates and interprets data and provides results to investigators to support publication.
  • Provides direction and training to lab staff to ensure efficient, timely, and high-quality results in compliance with all protocols, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Assists in the preparation and writing of research reports, manuscripts, papers, and grant proposals for presentation and publication.
  • May oversee study inclusion, the development, and tracking the progress of participants and cases.
  • Influences project direction and outcomes by identifying opportunities to enhance, re-terminate, or re-direct research activities. May monitor and revise, as necessary, the project timeline, budget, expenditures, and supplies.
  • Prepares communications of research results for the public and/or funding organizations.
  • May mentor fellows, graduate students, and others as appropriate in support of the University's mission.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • 4 years of related research experience required.
  • May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This position is security-sensitive pursuant to Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code 411.094. Employees in such positions may be routinely reviewed to determine eligibility based on criteria such as criminal history or connections to foreign adversaries.

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
