About the Role
Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) ensures our products are reliable, maintainable, and delivered on time. As a Reliability, Maintainability & Testability (RM&T) Engineer, you will lead or conduct LCE activities through proposal, development, and production phases, supporting engineering, program offices, and customers across the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Analyze preliminary plans and develop RM&T engineering programs to meet company, customer, and governmental reliability and maintainability objectives.
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct technical RM&T studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts.
- Perform RM&T analyses, including:
- Mean Time Between Failure predictions (MIL-HDBK-217)
- Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) predictions (MIL-HDBK-470)
- Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) (MIL-HDBK-1629)
- Built-in-Test (BIT) / Testability Analysis (MIL-HDBK-2165)
- Human Factors “Design for Maintainer” Assessment (MIL-HDBK-1472)
- Conduct Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations as part of a closed-loop Failure Reporting and Corrective Action (FRACA) process to drive continuous reliability improvement.
- Generate formal, customer-deliverable RM&T report documentation.
- Conduct reliability growth testing.
- Communicate findings and recommendations in writing and orally to program management, proposal teams, customers, and represent the organization in technical meetings and program reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience conducting:
- Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations to identify root cause, implement corrective action, and verify improvement.
- Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA).
- Experience with analytical techniques to estimate Fault Detection, Fault Isolation, and/or False Alarm rates.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance (required prior to start date).
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Experience in Life Cycle Engineering disciplines such as system safety, human systems integration (HSI), logistics, technical publications, training, and/or affordability.
- Ability to work across multiple disciplines and organizational levels.
- Experience presenting data to internal or external customers.
- Product testing and troubleshooting in factory/depot or field environments.
- Proficiency with RM&T analysis tools (e.g., Reliasoft Tool Suite, DSI eXpress, or Windchill).
- Experience interpreting interfaces between hardware and software.
- Experience working with software/firmware development and implementation.
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and/or Digital Engineering experience.
- Experience with Earned Value Management activities to manage budget/schedule performance.
- Experience developing RM&T cost estimates and technical analyses in support of proposals.
- Experience working in the DoD customer community (US Army, US Air Force, US Navy).
Pay
The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD.
