About the role

Responsibilities

  • Partner with a regional operations team to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance to all applicable local, regional, and federal regulations.
  • Leverage lean principles and kaizens to lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks.
  • Build trust and confidence with the cross-functional operations teams, influencing change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
  • Communicate clearly and provide comprehensive guidance on company EHS policies to operations leadership and site WHS professionals.
  • Instruct and train operations leadership and site WHS professionals on company safety standards, and assist regional teams in incorporating these standards at their sites.
  • Develop and execute leadership development plans for a team of safety managers and professionals within your designated region.
  • Communicate organizational direction to your WHS teams and provide frequent and appropriate feedback to ensure they are executing to the core competencies of an Amazon WHS professional.
  • Judge and assess safety talent to select appropriate bench strength for current and future business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, service operations, or relevant experience
  • 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Office within one of the designated region's sites
  • Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional preferred
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic organization
  • Track record of effectively managing a safety operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff
  • Experience developing others into higher levels of responsibility in an organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Directors and VPs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
