Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
University Development’s purpose is to support the university’s mission by raising private resources for students, faculty, programs, and facilities. It provides centralized services for annual giving, campaign management, constituent programs, corporate and foundation relations, donor relations, gift planning, gift services, industry relations, marketing/communications, parent giving, principal gifts, prospect management, research and analytics, regional programs, scholarships, and student aid. Carolina Development focuses on donor-centered activities, respecting donor interests and university goals.
Position Summary
The Senior Regional Development Officer will represent the University in one or more geographic regions, coordinating with the University’s fundraising program to identify, cultivate, and solicit principal and major gifts.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years’ experience; or combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Proven, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Motivate and engender the confidence of prospects and donors.
- Effective interaction in a comprehensive environment like a research university.
- High standards of professionalism and performance, including collaborative teamwork, initiative, critical thinking, good judgment, consistency, timeliness, and strong communication skills.
- Travel and some weekend work required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- 5-7 years of successful principal and major gift fundraising experience.
- Prioritization of candidates living in the Metro New York area.
