About the role
Trane Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Refrigeration Systems Engineer to join our Trane Commercial Systems organization. This role is responsible for all aspects of equipment design and component integration for Trane Commercial Water-to-Water HVAC product lines, encompassing both heating and cooling functionalities. Responsibilities include modeling system performance, innovating new technology for future products, and validating ideas and system performance in the laboratory. This role interacts with other functional resource groups such as Compressor Engineering, Thermal Systems, Controls, Electrical, and Manufacturing.
Schedule
Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.
Responsibilities
- Develop refrigeration subsystems to achieve chiller and heat pump performance goals, regulatory requirements, and cost targets.
- Apply engineering expertise to perform chiller and heat pump performance modeling to solve system design and product application problems.
- Lead and support chiller and heat pump system performance, reliability, and quality improvement efforts, including component selection and evaluation of component interactions within the overall system.
- Support sales order attainment by providing performance selections and custom design modifications that meet customer and application requirements.
- Develop, coordinate, and execute product validation test plans to verify system performance, reliability, and compliance.
- Create and calibrate product performance models using test data to improve prediction accuracy and support engineering decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and at least 6 years of engineering work experience (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
- Master's Degree in Engineering is a plus.
- Understand HVAC system functions: refrigeration, heat transfer, airflow, and ventilation.
- Proficient in problem solving with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to apply heat transfer and fluid flow concepts for real-world problem solving.
- Ability to apply data analytics tools to lab and factory performance data.
- Ability to efficiently understand, condense, and organize information necessary to make engineering decisions, along with the ability to be coached and mentored by senior employees.
- Design or application experience with HVAC products, thermodynamic computations, pressure vessel design, compressor, motor, controls, or heat transfer technologies is a plus.
- Understanding of Data & Analytics, making data-driven decisions, and programming knowledge is a plus.
Pay
Annual Base Salary Range: $97,406.66 - $135,834.99 (Compensation Type: Salary). The actual compensation will depend on elements such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
