Responsibilities
- Repair and overhaul equipment such as compressors, water pumps, air handlers, electrical and mechanical control devices and other similar machinery.
- Test malfunctioning systems and components using electrical and/or mechanical skills.
- Maintain legible records of work history.
- Provide general repair work on refrigeration, heating and ventilation equipment such as air conditioning units, evaporative condensers, ice machine equipment, water pumps, gas furnaces, compressors and electric motors.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities; diagnose equipment malfunctions and operating efficiency of mechanical equipment.
- Perform work on minor construction and remodeling projects including startups of new installations.

Qualifications
- Education / Training: High school diploma or GED, equivalent work experience and trade or technical school classes.
- Valid EPA certificate.
- Work Experience / Skills: 3-5 years' experience in commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical required. Basic knowledge of refrigeration, HVAC, ice machines, gas furnaces, and electrical. Experience working on refrigeration equipment in convenience stores or supermarkets a strong plus. Familiarity with single systems and rack systems along with previous work on display cases and walk-in boxes is very helpful. Knowledge of the components in a single-phase compressor and single-phase motor control circuit. Ability to use an ohmmeter. Ability to verify a capacitor is in good standing. Ability to demonstrate an understanding of defrost circuits. Knowledge of schematic and wiring diagram. Ability to identify/explain function of refrigeration components. Ability to properly leak check a single-compressor system. Ability to demonstrate proper PPE and safety equipment. Ability to set up LPC as the primary temperature control and as a pump down safety control. Ability to demonstrate how to determine superheat and how to set expansion valve superheat. Ability to verify a defrost termination is functional. Ability to demonstrate the proper tasks for performing preventative maintenance on HVAC systems. Ability and knowledge of the functions and safety precautions of the components of a gas furnace system. Ability to properly recover refrigerant from a refrigeration system. Ability to change oil in a vacuum pump. Ability to demonstrate how to properly hook up a gauge set for evacuation. Knowledge of reporting procedure for a large refrigerant release. Knowledge of level 2 experience/information.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. with no assistance and be able to sit and/or stand for several hours at a time.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license. Good driving record. Ability to understand and follow all company policies and procedures and all applicable State and Federal laws. Ability to use typical business tools including E-Mail, Word, Excel, etc.
