About the role

As a Senior Recruiter, Talent Acquisition, you will play a pivotal role in shaping CarMax’s workforce by driving full‑cycle recruiting strategies and delivering an exceptional candidate experience within our CarMax field teams. You’ll lead efforts to attract top talent through innovative sourcing techniques, strategic partnerships, and a commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement strategic recruiting plans, including proactive sourcing methods to reach talent that is not actively job searching (networking sites, job boards, specialty search software, direct outreach).
• Independently manage the hiring strategy and process from posting requisitions, developing posting strategy, conducting interviews, to delivering offer recommendations.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates and hiring managers (from manager to executive level), ensuring clear communication and a positive experience throughout the hiring process.
• Support manager and executive level hiring managers in hiring strategy while building deep functional expertise of the business areas supported.
• Guide hiring managers through structured interview and selection practices to maintain consistency and fairness.
• Build and maintain talent pipelines for current and future hiring needs, engaging passive candidates effectively.
• Participate in recruiting events such as job fairs, college outreach, and community engagement initiatives to strengthen CarMax’s employer brand (as needed).
• Collaborate with leadership to resolve challenges and recommend actionable solutions that improve recruiting efficiency and outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of full‑cycle recruiting experience within the last 5 years, with proven success in meeting hiring goals.
• Experience supporting recruiting for a variety of roles and demonstrated ability to support senior leadership business partners.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, including messaging, phone, email, and in‑person interactions.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with candidates and hiring managers.
• Proficiency in Applicant Tracking Systems and experience managing candidates through structured workflows.
• Expertise in sourcing and engaging passive candidates through multiple channels.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Attention to detail and clarity in all interactions.
• Some Senior Recruiter roles may require flexibility to work across different time zones.

Pay

The annual salary for this position ranges from $81,600.00 to $122,400.00 and may be eligible for bonus and equity.

Benefits

• Paid sick, vacation, and holiday time (full‑time hourly/commission associates earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year and 80–200 hours of vacation after a 90‑day waiting period).
• Six paid scheduled holidays per year plus one floating holiday; holiday premium pay if worked on a scheduled holiday.
