Senior Radiological Engineer 2 - Nuclear
About the role
This Radiological Engineering position provides opportunities for interfacing with clients and includes project work execution responsibilities. You will work with multi-discipline engineering project teams engaged in the design and engineering of upgrades and modifications to new and existing nuclear power plants in areas such as radiological dose calculations, radiation source term calculations, and radiation monitoring system design.
Responsibilities
- Work with multi-discipline engineering project teams engaged in the design and engineering of upgrades and modifications to new and existing nuclear power plants in areas such as radiological dose calculations, radiation source term calculations, and radiation monitoring system design.
- Perform site walk-downs and address emergent issues and provide technical support to clients.
- Travel to client offices and plant site locations to attend project progress meetings; travel may involve both domestic and international travel to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience with radiation monitoring systems including types of radiation detectors and their operation, signal processing, and mechanical/electrical interfaces with plant systems.
- Working knowledge of NRC regulations and guidance that apply to licensing and license renewal of nuclear power plants.
- Experience with the calibration and detection capability of radiation monitoring systems including primary calibrations, secondary/transfer calibrations, energy calibrations, energy response characteristics, and reference isotopes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
