Senior Quantity Surveyor

We have an opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in North Scotland, covering one of our projects in Elgin.

Responsibilities

• Review and report on tender information including pricing, sub-contractor quotes, preliminaries, and contract conditions.
• Review internal contract preliminary requirements and prepare spend budgets/cost forecasts.
• Prepare cash flow reports.
• Advise on contract requirements and manage project risks in conjunction with the project team.
• Early involvement in Design & Build projects, reviewing schedules of services, appointment and novation agreements, and design responsibility matrices.
• Manage evaluation of the tender/contract sum, subcontractors, and internally costed elements.
• Manage procurement of sub-contractor packages, placing formal orders, and agreement of sub-contract terms and conditions.
• Arrange and record sub-contractor pre-start meetings and minutes.
• Manage issue of budgets and target prices for internal trades.
• Oversee assistant quantity surveyor operations.
• Prepare, submit, and agree on main contract interim valuations.
• Provide support and advice to administration/accounts staff on monies due, payment dates, and assist in collection of monies as required.
• Manage re-measurement of the works for main contract, sub-contractor valuations, and in-house operations.
• Manage sub-contractor payment applications, payments, payment, and withholding notices in line with protocols.
• Provide contract advice to the site team, advising on obligations of the main contract and issuing formal notices as required.
• Manage project financial control, including preparation of prelims budgets, cost projections, managing cash flow, and preparing end projection forecasts.
• Prepare financial and written reports for monthly internal cost report (CPR) meetings and record minutes.
• Manage change control, coordinating pricing of contract instructions, provisional sums, pending instructions, and preparation of a change control monthly tracker.
• Coordinate and check requirements for bonds, collateral warranties, project insurances including 6.5.1 cover if required.
• Prepare, evaluate, and agree on contractual claims with the client, sub-contractors, and consultants.
• Manage agreement of final accounts with sub-contractors.
• Prepare and agree on the main contract final account with the employer/employer's quantity surveyor.

Requirements

• Degree qualified in an appropriate discipline.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution.
• Sound knowledge of construction processes.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work with, support, and advise a team.
• Ability to work on own initiative, be assertive and confident, and prioritize to meet deadlines.
