Senior Quality Supervisor*

About the role

As Supervisor Quality, this position will handle a variety of non-routine and difficult inquiries related to both analytical testing and quality assurance controls. You will collaborate with curious, creative 3Mers globally, providing an opportunity to transition from private, public, government, or military experience to a 3M career.

Direct leadership responsibility for subordinates with clearly defined roles, including reviews and approvals of their work results. You will perform complex research and analysis, ensuring compliance with established quality principles, and manage professional and support-level employees to promote continuous improvements in productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Adapt techniques and methods to solve complex problems, supervise the development and implementation of process improvements, and report key milestones and critical business initiatives to management. You will have budget responsibility for your team, including testing equipment, external services, and labor costs, and make recommendations impacting financial resource allocation.

Coordinate training and development for subordinates and stakeholders, support the implementation of functional quality control plans, and ensure these plans meet business needs and deadlines. Lead project teams, present recommendations, and handle non-routine inquiries requiring strong analytical skills and extensive experience.

Resolve conflicts among direct reports and have a considerable impact on the operational effectiveness of multiple work groups. Tasks may include maintaining and improving quality systems, reviewing functional analyses, providing quality consulting, developing quality plans, investigating customer issues, and addressing materials-related product failures with vendors.

Communicate with subordinates, internal and external clients, and occasionally senior management. Serve as a representative of your work group, negotiate and counsel at an advanced level, and actively participate in corporate programs while complying with 3M’s values and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve quality systems and measurements.
• Review and approve non-routine and difficult functional analyses conducted by subordinates.
• Provide quality consulting to application engineers and business leaders.
• Develop and implement quality plans, supplier control, and factory acceptance testing to meet customer requirements.
• Investigate quality-related issues with customers and engineering departments to determine root causes and develop action plans.
• Examine materials issues causing product failures, deficiencies, or scrap with vendors and supply chain.
• Manage subordinates with clearly defined roles, assign resources/tasks, and provide performance feedback.
• Coordinate training and development needs for subordinates and site stakeholders.
• Support development and implementation of functional quality control plans for the site.
• Assemble and lead project teams, presenting recommendations to appropriate personnel.
• Resolve issues and conflicts related to direct reports.
• Comply with corporate policies, procedures, and security standards while contributing to a strong Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, or Engineering (completed and verified prior to start).
• Six (6) years of quality and/or manufacturing experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Two (2) years of quality and/or manufacturing leadership experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status.
• Responsibilities may include direct and/or indirect access to information, systems, and technologies subject to U.S. Export Control Laws.

Skills

• Experience in a PSM chemical manufacturing environment.
• Experience with SAP, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.
• Knowledge of incident investigations, tier accountability, Lean manufacturing, and employee engagement practices.
• Leadership experience in manufacturing operations with a proven ability to deliver results in safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
• Experience developing and executing total quality management (TQM) strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Comprehensive knowledge of analytical lab operations and testing (e.g., GS-MS, HPLC).
• Strong persuasion skills and ability to manage differing interests and perspectives.

Schedule

Work location: Quapaw, OK.

Travel: May include up to 10%.

Relocation: May be authorized.

Pay

The expected compensation range for this position is $124,127 - $151,710, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. The specific compensation offered may vary based on factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and work location.
