The Senior Quality Engineer carries out procedures to ensure that all information systems products and services meet organization standards and end-user requirements. Work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quality Engineer with Automation expertise who is passionate about building modern quality engineering solutions and driving innovation in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role is ideal for a team player and a hands-on automation leader who thrives on solving complex problems and can iteratively deliver high-quality software through scalable automation.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement automation framework and strategy at each layer of the testing pyramid, including unit, integration, API, and end-to-end testing.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests to help ensure high test coverage and fast feedback on defects.
  • Help define the test architecture across all test frameworks and tooling.
  • Manage test strategy, product testing, and planning within your sprint team.
  • Create testing-related documentation including test plans and test cases.
  • Find and report bugs and track these to resolution in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the Product team to provide valuable insight and input to help create impactful features.
  • Provide clear test results to Development and Product teams to help manage project expectations and track progress.
  • Utilize AI tools like Playwright MCP, Claude, and Copilot to realize efficiencies in your daily work.
  • Maintain and refine quality metrics to help track and communicate overall product health.
  • Drive QA release process, activities, and work to unblock issues with collaboration from engineering and product teams.
  • Partner closely with developers and architects on design discussions to ensure testability, automation coverage, and quality gates are built in from the start (shift-left).
  • Drive modernization initiatives by enabling faster, safer integrations through automated testing of APIs and foundational services, integrated into CI/CD.
  • Improve platform stability, performance, and resilience by building automated checks (functional, contract, performance) and proactively identifying risks before they reach production.
  • Support modernization of legacy components, ensuring compliance, risk remediation, and industry leading quality standards are maintained.
  • Own automation outcomes and look for continuous improvements for test automation stability and coverage.
  • Partner with all QA teams, pairing with engineers, contributing code, and ensuring every sprint ships with reliable automated coverage.
  • Lead through influence by fostering collaboration, providing constructive feedback, and elevating team performance.
  • Serve as a trusted technical partner who helps shape engineering, quality, and delivery decisions across the organization.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in Quality Assurance and Test Automation with a demonstrated track record of team leadership and building automation from the ground up.
  • 12+ years of expertise in End-to-End User Acceptance Testing (UAT), functional testing, black box testing, and overall software quality practices.
  • 12+ years of experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as qTest, Azure, or equivalent platforms.
  • 10+ years of experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, and/or Playwright.
  • 10+ years of experience with one of the following languages: Python, Typescript, Java, or JavaScript.
  • 8+ years of experience developing automated tests for APIs in scripting or programming languages.
  • 8+ years of experience with API automation frameworks such as Pytest or REST Assured, or similar tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leveraging AI-powered development and testing tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Playwright, or similar technologies for test development.
  • Experience using Eclipse or other IDE tools for development and debugging.
  • Experience with distributed version control systems such as GitHub or Bitbucket.
  • Familiarity with code quality governance tools such as Sonar, FindBugs, or Checkmarx.
  • Experience in Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in Azure Databricks, Postgres.
  • Experience establishing and reporting quality engineering metrics such as test coverage, automation coverage, flake rate, false positive rate, and mean time to detect and mean time to triage.

Schedule

  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
  • Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
  • While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $97,900 - $133,500 per year. This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.
