Senior Quality Engineer
This position is 100% onsite and works Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
About the role
As Senior Quality Engineer (SQE), you will coordinate the implementation of quality control processes to ensure products meet required standards while continuously improving the Quality Management System (QMS). You will revise and maintain standard operating procedures, coordinate root cause investigations for quality issues, and drive corrective and preventive actions to support operational excellence. You will perform audits, lead the qualification of new parts and processes, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and mentor junior personnel. You will collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Inspectors, and cross-functional stakeholders to support quality performance and production readiness.
Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and Quality Instruction formats.
- Lead the qualification of new parts and processes, ensuring all required instructions, control plans, inspections, and quality records are established and approved prior to production release.
- Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies and drive the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurrence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve quality issues in a timely manner while contributing and delivering solutions in a self-managed and target-oriented manner.
- Coordinate a team that analyzes, tests, and implements processes. Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers and Quality Inspectors to support quality and operational objectives.
- Perform process audits, document findings, and ensure timely follow-up on generated action items.
- Support the development and implementation of digital systems for monitoring quality performance and driving data-based decision-making.
- Ensure the implementation of quality-related standards, guidelines, and programs within the assigned area of responsibility.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in a Quality Engineering role or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects, mentor team members, provide technical guidance, and influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with FMEA, SPC, MSA, CAPA, and structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, A3, DMAIC, or equivalent.
- Ability to analyze quality performance metrics and trends to identify improvement opportunities using Excel, Minitab, Tableau, or similar software.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and use precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, tape measures, snap gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Familiarity with the metric system of measurement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing operations producing parts with complex engineering specifications.
- Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001 and CSA N299.
- Familiarity with key quality tools.
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor training and demonstrated internal auditing experience.
- Experience with SAP.
