Senior Quality Engineer
East/West Industries Inc., a woman-owned small business in Ronkonkoma, NY, is a world leader in developing and producing aircraft seats, life-support systems for high-performance military aircraft, and ground-support equipment.
About the role
The Senior Quality Engineer documents and analyzes quality-assurance procedures, performs quality-control testing of final products, and designs, implements, and tests QA process-sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques to ensure products meet specified quality standards and safety regulations. This role works within a team of Quality Assurance professionals and reports to the Quality Manager.
Responsibilities
- Formulate Quality Assurance policies and procedures for the Quality Management System.
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance.
- Maintain the Quality Management System.
- Provide technical assistance and define inspection and test criteria to Quality Control personnel.
- Collaborate with Engineering and other departments to determine QA requirements for new and existing products.
- Establish statistical confidence by identifying sample size, acceptable error, and confidence levels.
- Provide technical, reporting, and analytical expertise in evaluating warranty and non-warranty repairs; oversee the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process.
- Serve as a senior member of the Management Review Board (MRB).
- Complete nonconformance control, including disposition, failure analysis, trending, and corrective action.
- Prepare defect analysis reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; make recommendations for improvement.
- Identify areas for quality improvement and pursue improvement methodology relevant to manufacturing processes.
- Work with the Supply Chain department to ensure continued quality of incoming parts through regular audits, supply-base ratings, and corrective action where appropriate.
- Ensure new vendors meet QMS requirements.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship.
- Undergraduate degree in an Engineering field (Mechanical preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 6 years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced knowledge of ERP systems.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Pay
Salary range: $85,000 to $118,000 annually. The offered salary will be determined based on credentials, experience, role requirements, internal equity, and external market considerations.
