About the Role

This position is for a Senior Production Quality Engineer at Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. The Production Quality Engineer serves as the primary quality focal point for production and value stream support.

Responsibilities

  • Customer returned product investigation
  • Delivered quality corrective action and site-wide read-across
  • Non-conforming material review
  • Change review board support
  • Manufacturing improvement initiatives
  • Quality control and improvement initiatives (PPAP, RTX-Zero)
  • New product introduction support
  • Ensuring successful product transfer through quality tools (ETQP, PPAP)
  • Timely root cause corrective action (RCCA) for product escapes
  • First Article Inspection (FAI) reviews for product transfers
  • Business process enhancements through continuous improvement initiatives
  • Nonconforming material review and approval

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Knowledgeable in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), including requirements derived from AS9145 and/or AS13100
  • Knowledgeable in the 8D process and review of corrective action plans with the product quality team
  • Exposure to quality tools (RCCA, PPAP, MPR)
  • Analytical problem-solving: Basic understanding of problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D, root cause analysis, Apollo) and associated statistical tools
  • New product development and launch: Knowledge of key phases and requirements (e.g., APQP, Stride) and tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, Characteristic Matrix, Gage Capability, Process Capability, Process Flow, Preventive Maintenance, Machine Runoff
  • Quality management systems: Basic understanding of standards (e.g., AS/EN9100, ISO-9001) and customer-specific certification programs; support in audit preparation and corrective action
  • Continuous improvement: Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Continuous Flow Manufacturing, Set-up Reduction, Total Productive Maintenance, Mistake Proofing)
  • Cost of Quality: Basic understanding of Cost of Non-Conformance; ability to use Cost of Quality reports to identify improvement opportunities
  • Ability to solve problems of limited scope and complexity

Pay

The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
