Role Overview

Eurofins PSS is hiring a Senior QC Analytical Chemist Group Leader to support and lead GMP testing of pharmaceutical in‑process, raw materials, intermediates, APIs, and stability samples. The role includes investigating invalid results, conducting method transfers, and leading a team of 3‑5 individual contributors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct testing and review in accordance with approved methods, specifications, protocols, and compendial requirements.
  • Follow GMP regulations, including 21 CFR Parts 210 and 211, and applicable ICH guidelines.
  • Test pharmaceutical samples including in‑process, raw materials, intermediates, API, stability, and more.
  • Participate in method transfer, qualification, and verification studies.
  • Support investigations for OOS, OOT, and invalid results.
  • Utilize analytical techniques such as NMR, GC, LC, ICP‑OES, IR, RI, UV‑Vis, Conductivity, Specific Rotation, Titration, TGA, and others.
  • Reference standard qualification and management.
  • Perform elemental impurities and residual solvent testing and review.

Leadership & Team Management Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of chemists.
  • Serve as a proactive point of contact for clients and internal teams.
  • Participate in new‑hire interviews and onboarding processes as needed.
  • Disseminate administrative communications and promote the company vision.
  • Ensure adherence to the highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations.
  • Perform administrative tasks to support team member growth and development.
  • Balance technical work with team leadership responsibilities.
  • Foster morale, collaboration, and teamwork within the group.

Qualifications

  • BS in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Sciences, or related field with 5+ years GMP/GLP testing experience, or MS in the same fields with 3+ years GMP/GLP testing experience.
  • 3+ years of industry experience with Liquid Chromatography (LC), Conductivity, and Titration.
  • Proven experience with at least two of the following techniques/instruments: NMR, GC, ICP‑OES, IR, RI, UV‑Vis, TGA.
  • In‑depth knowledge of GMPs, ICH, and 21 CFR guidelines.
  • 1+ year of prior leadership experience.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
  • Preferred: At least one year of GMP experience.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of successful leadership experience.

Schedule

This permanent, full‑time position works a rotating 6 pm – 6 am shift: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday (36 hours) and Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (48 hours), with overtime as needed. Candidates should reside within a commutable distance of Albany, NY.

Compensation

$90,000 – $105,000 per year, plus a 10 % second‑shift differential, based on education, leadership experience, and related industry background.
