Senior QA Automation Engineer – Banking Domain
About The Role
As a Senior QA Automation Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and optimizing scalable test automation solutions that improve software quality, accelerate delivery, and support business-critical applications. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with developers, product owners, business analysts, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solutions within the Banking & Financial Services domain.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute automated test suites for functional, regression, smoke, integration, and end-to-end testing scenarios.
- Develop reusable automation components that improve test coverage, execution efficiency, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test strategies, validate requirements, and ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Integrate automation solutions into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing, release validation, and production readiness activities.
Requirements
- Strong experience developing and maintaining Java-based automation frameworks for enterprise applications.
- Hands-on expertise with Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, and REST Assured for UI and API test automation.
- Experience with TestNG or JUnit, object-oriented programming principles, and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
- Solid knowledge of software testing methodologies, including functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, and API testing.
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Git, and GitHub.
- Strong SQL and database validation skills with the ability to validate data across backend systems.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with distributed, cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to analyze defects, troubleshoot test failures, and perform root cause analysis.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting applications within the Banking & Financial Services (BFS) industry.
- Hands-on experience using Postman for API testing and validation.
- Experience designing hybrid, modular, keyword-driven, or data-driven automation frameworks.
- Knowledge of automated test reporting, quality dashboards, and test metrics.
- Experience supporting release management, production validation, and post-deployment verification activities.

Benefits
The annual salary for this position is between $53,477 to 92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.

Pay
The annual salary for this position is between $53,477 to 92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Schedule
This is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days per week in a client or Cognizant office in Charlotte, North Carolina. Based on the business requirements of the project you are engaged in, as well as business and client requirements, the working arrangements for this role may change.
