About the Role

As a Senior QA Engineer, you’ll champion a quality-first approach within our agile development team. You’ll be deeply involved throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring our products meet the highest standards.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate during feature refinement to clarify requirements, question assumptions, uncover edge cases, and improve testability while forming an initial test strategy.
• Formalize test strategies into documents covering scenarios, integration points (API, app, queues), test data, and verification methods during planning.
• Deploy and configure updates in the QA environment, execute test cases, investigate bugs, and log them with clear reproduction steps.
• Verify complete solutions and sign off for production.
• Drive automation efforts for new and existing features, working with the QE Lead to maintain test suites and serve as the team’s automation expert.
• Positively influence software quality beyond your team’s boundaries.

First 90 Days

• Onboard to our tools and processes, and familiarize yourself with teams and departments at Mama Money.
• Develop a deep understanding of Mama Money’s mission and your team’s role from the customer’s perspective.
• Advocate for quality, write and perform tests, and deliver functionality within your team.
• Have one-on-one meetings with your line manager to create a training and career growth plan aligned with your goals and business needs.
• Regularly give and receive feedback, and suggest improvements.

Requirements

• 5-8+ years of experience as a QA tester in an Agile software development environment.
• Proven experience developing test strategies and writing test cases.
• Extensive experience testing back-end systems using REST, SQS, databases, and front-end interfaces.
• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with relational database tools (e.g., DBeaver, SQL Server, MySQL Workbench).
• Experience seeding databases with test data (a plus).
• Proficiency with version control systems like Git.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP); familiarity with AWS services (EKS, RDS, SQS, API Gateway) is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with API tools (e.g., Swagger, Bruno, Postman).
• Scripting experience using JavaScript.
• Knowledge of configuring mocks for isolated service testing (a plus).
• Strong exploratory testing skills with a sharp eye for bugs and UX issues.
• Ability to multitask, reprioritize workstreams, and troubleshoot efficiently in a dynamic environment.
