About the role
A Senior Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of production-ready APIs exposed to third-party vendors to facilitate acquisition workflows. This role will design and execute comprehensive functional and risk-based testing strategies, with a strong emphasis on API and headless application testing. The successful candidate will work closely with developers, product owners, vendor representatives, and business analysts in an Agile/Scrum environment.
This is a 100% remote, 6-month W2 contract position.
Responsibilities
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies and other Agile team routines.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans and risk-based test strategies for assigned story cards.
- Create and execute positive and negative test plans to validate application functionality and system behavior.
- Perform functional and risk-based testing of APIs and headless applications.
- Design, execute, and maintain API tests using tools such as REST Assured, Swagger/OpenAPI, and Postman/Newman.
- Identify, document, and communicate defects with clear and detailed reproduction steps.
- Collaborate with development and product teams to assess defect impact and establish appropriate priorities.
- Use Splunk to independently investigate system issues, troubleshoot defects, and identify potential root causes.
- Utilize Azure DevOps (AzDO) to manage testing activities, defects, and Agile work items.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, testing strategies, and Agile best practices.
- Develop and execute automated tests when applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Information Technology, or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience analyzing, testing, and implementing business system changes or performing user acceptance testing.
- OR completion of a technical training program with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience analyzing, testing, and implementing business system changes or performing user acceptance testing.
- OR a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience analyzing, testing, and implementing business system changes or performing user acceptance testing.
- Strong experience with functional and risk-based testing, including development and maintenance of risk-based test strategies.
- Experience creating and executing positive and negative test plans.
- Hands-on API testing experience, including REST Assured, Swagger/OpenAPI, and Postman/Newman.
- Proven experience testing headless applications.
- Strong experience with Splunk and the ability to independently diagnose system issues and defects.
- Experience with Azure DevOps (AzDO) and Agile/Scrum best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing and executing test automation.
- Previous experience within the insurance industry.
- Experience performing UI testing.
- Familiarity with APIs and their role in enabling communication and data exchange between software applications.
