Publicity Manager role focused on our award-winning food and drink list, working closely with key stakeholders across publicity, marketing, and sales departments.
About the role
This is a highly collaborative, results-oriented position reporting to the Director of Publicity and Marketing. The ideal candidate will drive sales through integrated publicity campaigns, manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment, and maintain strong relationships with media, authors, and agents. Hybrid schedule: 3 days in-office (Tuesday–Thursday) in NYC and 2 days remote.
Responsibilities
- Create, present, and implement integrated publicity campaigns for 6–10 books per season, primarily food & drink titles, plus adjacent lifestyle, design, and pop culture titles as needed.
- Design and execute innovative campaigns to grow sales, raise author/book profile, and build brand awareness; measure impact in collaboration with sales, marketing, and editorial teams.
- Organize and accompany authors to publicity events; maximize opportunities for author/contributor events.
- Deliver high-quality author and contributor care at all times.
- Liaise with editorial, sales, and marketing teams to ensure fully integrated campaigns.
- Present publicity plans at internal meetings and pitch books/authors to media contacts and event organizers.
- Disseminate publicity coverage and author events internally and externally.
- Maintain records, databases, and metadata; share market and media awareness.
- Identify and promote key titles to specific sales channels (school & library, mass retail, gift, indie bookstores) in collaboration with the sales team.
- Build and sustain media relationships; attend seasonal media meetings.
- Collaborate on influencer campaigns for assigned titles.
- Manage title-specific budgets, allocate resources, and recommend campaign spend.
Requirements
- 5+ years of food & drink-focused publicity experience.
- Strong, established relationships with key media contacts.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Poise and confidence communicating with authors, agents, media, and in-house colleagues.

Pay
Compensation range: $85,000–$95,000, depending on skills, experience, and location.
