Marketing$120k–$150k/yrFull-time

Seeking.com is the world's largest premium dating platform, entering a pivotal chapter of brand transformation. This role is critical as Seeking moves past its legacy reputation to become the definitive platform for ambitious people building extraordinary lives. The Senior PR Manager will own Public Relations and Communications end-to-end, driving Share of Voice against named competitors and earned media impressions as primary KPIs.

About the Role

As a small, high-output in-house function, you will set and execute PR strategy personally while leading a small team (including at least one direct report you will hire, mentor, and grow). You will coordinate cross-functional marketing campaigns with creative, product, social, and digital teams, positioning Seeking as one of the most talked-about dating and lifestyle brands over the next 24 months. This role is measured in output, not activity—execution is key.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Talent Development
    • Manage and mentor at least one FTE direct report, setting priorities, coaching writing, and developing their judgment
    • Run weekly 1:1s focused on feedback, development, and removing blockers
    • Build quarterly development plans for direct reports
    • Delegate lower-tier tasks (media monitoring, asset maintenance, outreach) to focus on tier-one pitching, executive visibility, and strategy
    • Scale the team as Share of Voice and earned media impressions grow, making the business case for additional headcount
  • Strategy & Earned Media Ownership
    • Own PR and Communications strategy, with KPIs including Share of Voice, brand sentiment, and earned media impressions
    • Define quarterly themes and narratives for tier-one media
    • Set and report on KPIs weekly (SoV vs. competitors, earned impressions, tier-one placements, sentiment, share of conversation)
    • Build quarterly executive readouts for Co-CEOs
  • Writing, Pitching & Media Relations
    • Write press releases, media alerts, pitch letters, op-eds, bylines, talking points, Q&As, fact sheets, executive bios, and briefing books with minimal editing
    • Pitch directly to journalists, editors, podcast bookers, producers, bloggers, and influencers (no outsourcing to agencies)
    • Maintain and grow personal journalist/producer relationships across dating, lifestyle, business, consumer tech, and culture beats
    • Respond to inbound media requests and gather cross-company information for approved messaging
    • Identify PR opportunities via Qwoted, HARO, and similar platforms daily
    • Insert Seeking into the news cycle through trend-hijacking
    • Edit and proofread all external communications for accuracy, AP style, tone, and brand consistency
    • Participate in interviews and ensure all PR team members are media-trained
    • Keep media talking points current
  • Co-CEO & Executive Visibility
    • Prepare Co-CEOs with briefing materials, narrative arcs, and message tracks for every appearance
    • Identify and submit the company/executives for industry, business, and culture awards driving Share of Voice
    • Manage stage and panel opportunities at relevant conferences (dating, lifestyle, consumer tech, growth)
    • Coordinate executive visibility across earned media, social, and owned channels
  • Member Casting Book
    • Oversee creation/maintenance of a curated 'book' of Seeking members willing to speak to the press
    • Match members to journalist requests, balancing speed and quality
    • Manage NDAs, consent forms, talking-point briefings, and post-interview follow-ups for member interviewees
    • Develop incentive structures to keep top storytellers engaged
  • Agency Management
    • Serve as day-to-day client lead for US/UK agencies, running weekly status calls and setting agendas
    • Hold agencies to clear quarterly scorecards, treating them as force multipliers (not replacements for pitching)
    • Quality-control all agency-drafted assets before distribution
    • Track and report on agency performance metrics/ROI, renegotiating scope as needed
  • Trend-Mining & Cultural Listening
    • Monitor news cycles across dating, relationships, lifestyle, business, and tech for Seeking opportunities
    • Maintain a rolling PR calendar tied to product moments, cultural events, and trends
    • Track competitor PR activity (Match, Bumble, Hinge, Raya) and flag share-of-conversation gaps
  • Issues, Reputation & Crisis
    • Anticipate reputational issues and maintain holding statements/crisis trees
    • Oversee reputational stories end-to-end with legal, executive, and agency input
    • Maintain a press FAQ reflecting current positioning (not legacy reputation)
  • Cross-Functional Campaign Coordination
    • Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns with creative, social, product, digital, and agency partners
    • Coordinate press conferences, media interviews, product launches, and special events
    • Track campaign performance and compile actionable reports
  • Operations, Reporting & Asset Management
    • Create and manage Jira tickets, maintaining organized workflows
    • Document SOPs for recurring PR/marketing workflows
    • Maintain media lists, pitch calendars, journalist databases, and CRM tracking
    • Manage the PR asset library (approved imagery, boilerplates, key messaging, executive bios, media kits)
    • Monitor daily media coverage using Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater, Google Alerts, etc.
    • Compile and analyze PR metrics (reach, impressions, sentiment, Share of Voice)
    • Manage PR budget, vendor contracts, and invoicing with finance

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of combined experience across PR agency, in-house PR, and/or journalism (mix matters more than years)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent professional track record)
  • Demonstrated record securing tier-one media coverage (national business, lifestyle, culture, or consumer tech) through personal pitching
  • Exceptional writing/editing skills with a portfolio of published/placed work
  • Experience managing PR agency/vendor relationships as the client or as a senior IC at a top agency
  • Strong personal media relationships with journalists, podcast bookers, or producers in dating, lifestyle, business, consumer tech, or culture
  • Working knowledge of Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater, Qwoted/HARO, and AP style
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring or managing junior talent (e.g., training associates, leading account teams, supervising interns)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a top consumer or lifestyle PR agency
  • AI fluency (using ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity for trends, drafting, media lists, coverage analysis)
  • Newsroom experience as a reporter/editor at a recognized outlet
  • Experience building/scaling a small in-house PR team from scratch
  • APR or similar professional certification

Pay

  • Base salary: $120,000–$150,000, commensurate with experience
  • Performance bonus: up to 20% of base, tied to Share of Voice growth, tier-one placements, Co-CEO bookings, and award wins
