About the role

The Senior Public Relations Manager leads and implements earned media and public relations strategies that advance Signal Theory’s and clients’ business goals while building name recognition in key practice areas, industries, and markets. This role focuses on enhancing, building, and protecting the reputation of Signal Theory and its clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, ideate, and execute day-to-day earned media and PR activities for the firm and clients.
  • Develop journalism-style stories that engage readers without sounding like marketing or ad copy, writing for formats such as:
    • Website case studies summarizing client work
    • Web-based news articles
    • Blogs, podcasts, and social media content
  • Conduct regular editorial meetings with key leaders and maintain editorial calendars aligned with Signal Theory’s expertise and client industries.
  • Proactively pitch and secure stories through media outreach, targeting outlets in advertising/industry trades, food and marketing verticals, and animal health/agri-marketing verticals.
  • Co-create, write, edit, pitch, and place executive thought leadership articles for clients, agency leadership, and subject matter experts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (creative, account leaders, strategists, and data analysts) to transform insights into compelling content for earned media or brand-published materials.
  • Monitor, track, and report on earned and owned media coverage, including online brand sentiment and other key metrics, partnering with analysts to refine measurement strategies.
  • Utilize social listening insights to adapt and improve earned and owned content.
  • Support crisis communications for the firm and clients as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry and competitive trends, conduct media research, build media lists, and perform outreach.
  • Identify, vet, and secure speaking engagements (digital and in-person), including supporting speakers with presentation decks and talking points.
  • Promote community relations by spotlighting firm and individual involvement in local outreach efforts.
  • Travel as required by firm and client needs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with client and internal stakeholders (discipline leads, creative and account directors, subject matter experts).
  • Develop project briefs in collaboration with agency and client stakeholders.
  • Bring proactive ideas, initiatives, and solutions to meet business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; communications, advertising, or marketing major (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • 5–8 years of professional public relations experience, with agency experience strongly preferred.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write for various mediums (e.g., social media, long-form articles) and maintain superb attention to detail.
  • Creativity and resourcefulness in storytelling and media strategy.
