Senior Project Transportation Planner
Job Summary
Langan is seeking a Senior Project Transportation Planner to join its growing transportation and infrastructure practice in Northern California. This individual will contribute to the execution of multimodal transportation planning and mobility initiatives for a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients.
Job Responsibilities
- Drive project execution across transportation planning and traffic analysis initiatives from proposal through delivery, ensuring alignment with overall project and team objectives.
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
- Oversee and contribute to technical studies and documentation, including:
- Transportation impact analyses and Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) studies
- CEQA/NEPA transportation documentation and environmental review support
- Corridor, mobility, and multimodal planning studies
- Parking, access, and site circulation analyses
- Complete Streets, active transportation, and transit-oriented development initiatives
- Cook up with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineering, environmental, and land development professionals, to support integrated project delivery.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans, ensuring quality through established QA/QC processes.
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance and quality control.
- Present findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
- Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client engagement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- 12+ years of relevant experience in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering.
- Professional licensure (PE, TE, or similar) required.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation planning principles, policies, and analytical methodologies.
- Experience with transportation analysis tools and GIS platforms is preferred.
- Demonstrated project management and client management experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
