About the role

CobbFendley is seeking an experienced Senior Project Surveyor (RPLS) in our Houston, Texas office.

Requirements

• RPLS registration (Texas) with 10+ years of experience
• Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, MicroStation and GeoPak, Trimble Business Center, and Microsoft Office products
• B.S. in Land Surveying preferred (not required)

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with other Project Surveyors and teams to execute project scope and schedule as established by the Project Manager
• Perform property boundary resolutions, property deed research, and abstracting
• Perform independent research and delegate/adapt changing priorities
• Prepare and/or review easement documents
• Direct Field Crews and Surveying Technicians in the collection and calculation of data, and the production of topographic design surveys, ROW surveys, final plats, descriptions, Boundary surveys, and control sheets
• QA/QC review of CAD drawings and documents prepared by Survey Technicians
• Attend various meetings, seminars, and/or training classes
• Work with minimal supervision and deliver accurate work product that is error-free
• Assist in preparation of Land Surveying proposals
• Adhere to CobbFendley’s safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment
• Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity

Schedule

• Full-time position, generally 40 hours per week (hours may fluctuate based on department needs, including overtime)
• Standard operating hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST
• 1-hour unpaid lunch break (may vary for field staff based on project workload)
• Hybrid schedule eligibility after training period completion

Work Environment

Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and outdoor environments for observations will be required.

  • Movement within the office and job sites, including navigating between floors, workstations, and outdoor environments with uneven surfaces
  • Forward flexion, extension, or lateral rotation of the head and neck while using multiple computer screens
  • Repetitive finger movements for operating a computer mouse and typing
  • Extending hands and arms in various directions (overhead, below the waist, forward, or laterally)
  • Raising or lowering objects and transporting them by hand, arm, or shoulder

• Outdoor Conditions:
  • Walking and climbing on uneven surfaces and confined spaces
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat and freezing temperatures)
  • Potential exposure to high noise levels and allergens (poison ivy, sumac, dust, pollen, cedar)
  • Potential exposure to wildlife hazards (animals, insects, plants)
• Safety and Equipment Use:
  • Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Use of hand and power tools
  • Driving large pick-up trucks with attached trailers, potentially operating watercraft for extended periods
