About the role

The Christman Company is seeking a Senior Project Superintendent for its Southeast Michigan region. This role involves overseeing large projects or multiple smaller projects, managing subcontractors, coordinating work activities, maintaining schedules, ensuring quality, and enforcing safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures Christman presence at the site every day, setting expectations and maintaining commitments.
  • Reviews project documents for constructability and logistical issues, recommending or evaluating construction options.
  • Establishes site expectations for safety, quality, and other aspects, developing a safety program and orientation.
  • Addresses safety concerns, reporting and investigating incidents, and enforcing safety rules.
  • Coordinates site logistics, preparing work plans, and scheduling meetings.
  • Manages trade contractors, prioritizing submittals, and verifying timesheets.
  • Interprets construction documents, recommends methods and equipment, and ensures compliance with specifications.
  • Communicates quality expectations, organizes pre-installation meetings, and verifies punch lists.
  • Completes daily reports on progress, concerns, and challenges, including weather and safety inspections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of commercial construction experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience in supervising multiple projects or a single large/complex project.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and safety management.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage time, plan, and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Procore.
