About The Role
The Senior Project Metallurgist partners closely with the Manager, Processing & Metallurgy to deliver metallurgical characterization and process engineering for the Nevada Projects portfolio. This role serves as the technical execution lead for study-phase metallurgy—overseeing representative sample selection, managing metallurgical testwork programs, and performing rigorous technical reviews of EPCM engineering deliverables to support robust and defensible process flowsheet development.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Metallurgy & Study Delivery
- Lead metallurgical scope for scoping-level concept studies and play a key role in Pre-Feasibility (PFS) and Feasibility Studies (FS) in alignment with stage-gate requirements.
- Author and compile metallurgy and processing sections of technical study reports.
- Ensure metallurgical deliverables meet project governance, quality, and decision-readiness standards.
- Author and compile metallurgy and processing sections of technical study reports.
- Lead metallurgical scope for scoping-level concept studies and play a key role in Pre-Feasibility (PFS) and Feasibility Studies (FS) in alignment with stage-gate requirements.
- Metallurgical Testwork & Sampling Design, Management, and Execution
- Manage, and execute comprehensive metallurgical testwork programs in collaboration with external laboratories.
- Select representative samples through detailed review of historical testwork and geological block models.
- Manage sample collection, logistics, and laboratory coordination.

- Process Design & Engineering Review
- Perform detailed technical reviews of EPCM engineering deliverables, including process design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, general arrangements, and equipment lists.
- Work closely with EPCM contractors and specialty consultants to review, challenge, and approve metallurgical design packages.
- Lead technical and economic trade-off studies to support process selection and optimization.

- Cost, Performance & Operational Readiness Support
- Support development of CAPEX and OPEX estimates, reagent consumption forecasts, recovery models, and operating philosophies.
- Build and refine process operating models using advanced data analysis and specialized software.
- Support Operational Readiness planning for PFS and FS phases to ensure smooth transition into execution.

- Safety, Compliance & Collaboration
- Ensure all metallurgical study and testwork activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote safe execution of metallurgical programs and site-based activities.
- Collaborate effectively with Engineering, Mining, Geology, Project Controls, and Corporate Metallurgy teams.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related process discipline (required).
- Advanced degree or specialized postgraduate training preferred.
- Proficiency with metallurgical and engineering software platforms.
- 5–7 years of experience in project metallurgy, mineral processing, or ore processing operations.
- Experience supporting metallurgical scope across multiple project phases preferred.
- Background in gold processing operations desirable, including HPGR, heap leaching, or filtered tailings systems.
- Proven ability to work within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong understanding of metallurgical testwork programs and scale-up principles.
- Familiarity with gold processing flowsheets, including flotation, pressure oxidation, and atmospheric oxidation.
- Strong technical writing, reporting, and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyze complex datasets, draw sound conclusions, and support technical decision-making.
- Demonstrated sound judgment and accountability in high-impact technical decisions.
- Strong awareness of safety, health, and environmental requirements.
- Able to work independently within established governance and standards.
- Collaborative mindset with a willingness to mentor and support team development.
- Awareness of cultural and community considerations in mine development.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Valid driver’s license required; travel to project sites expected.
