About the role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to join a premier Construction Services department, specializing in the water/wastewater infrastructure field. Acting as the client's trusted agent from initial design through final close-out, you will manage complex facility renovations and new construction projects for a leading architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firm.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate new construction and renovation of existing water/wastewater facilities from early design through final inspection, startup, and the warranty period.
- Develop initial project documents, including capital budget estimates, master schedules, scopes of work, and comprehensive project management plans.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Qualifications (RFQ) and Requests for Proposals (RFP) for design and construction services, coordinating reviews with client staff.
- Procure and coordinate survey, design, construction, and QA/QC services provided by consultants, contractors, or the client.
- Lead the project permitting and approval process through local, state, and federal regulatory authorities.
- Coordinate with project design teams, secure stakeholder agreements, and recommend design specification or schedule changes to accommodate active site conditions.
- Lead the construction contractor selection process and administer complex facility design and construction contracts.
- Lead the on-site Construction Management (CM) team, overseeing contract administration, field construction inspections, and materials testing.
- Oversee project budgets, manage the dispersal of funds, and track multiple construction contracts simultaneously.
- Prepare regional, state, and federal project documentation, and write detailed weekly and monthly client reports.
- Manage project close-out processes and coordinate any necessary follow-up actions during the warranty period.
- Deliver professional presentations regarding project progress to elected officials, executive management, and citizen groups.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10+ years of extensive experience managing the design and construction of capital improvement projects, specifically within water/wastewater infrastructure or similar complex facilities.
- Active registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is required (exception can be made for exceptional candidates).
- Highly proficient in web-based construction document management platforms and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Adept at interpersonal relationship building, conflict resolution, and collaborating effectively within diverse teams.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess the physical ability to safely navigate and move around active construction sites.
- Must be legally allowed to work in the United States and fluent in written and spoken English.
